The Akari 10A floor lamp is one of the Akari Light Sculptures designed by Isamu Noguchi. In Japanese, "Akari" means "brightness", "light" and "clarity". That's why, in 1951, the Japanese-American artist and designer Isamu Noguchi gave this name to his light creations made of Shoji paper. In total, the artist has created more than 100 Akari light sculptures - table lamps, floor lamps and hanging lamps. The Akari 10A floor lamp is made entirely by hand in Japan, using handmade paper and Noguchi's original wooden forms. Isamu Noguchi had this to say about his lamps: "The light of an Akari shines like sunlight, which is filtered through the Shoji paper. The magic of the paper transforms the cold electricity back into the original light - the sun - so that its warmth can continue to fill our rooms at night.
