Our story

Our story

For more than 30 years, we have been helping our clients, throughout French-speaking area of Switzerland, to design their indoor/outdoor working, living and social spaces.
We have come a long way since the first 35sm showroom to the creation of the 3,500sm Batiplus Design Center in Puidoux. We have evolved with you, in order to always better meet your expectations.
30 years of activity means a considerable number of meetings, projects and interior design projects shared with our clients. Here are a few key dates in the history of Batiplus SA's development.

Before 27 November 1989

Before 27 November 1989

This is the story of three friends... First there is Urs Lüscher and his interest in design and interior architecture since childhood, who grew up in a family of furniture manufacturers. He trained as an interior architect at Athenaum and initially joined forces with Gabriele Rossi Architecte to develop an independent interior design business under the name atelier 27 bis.

This was followed by the creation of the Archilab architectural office in Pully. For several years, they carried out numerous projects by prescribing design and contemporary furniture and lighting; this naturally led them to the marketing of these objects and the creation of Batiplus SA.

In order to complete the duo, Urs and Gabriele asked Pierre Jutzi to join them in this adventure and to take over the financial management of Batiplus SA.

Batiplus SA was founded in 1989... But why choose Batiplus as a brand name?

When Batiplus was first set up, the trio planned to distribute other products such as parquet, tiles and other plasters, as part of work on buildings. The idea was to offer added value to the buildings they were working on. It was this desire that led them to name the future company 'BATI' 'PLUS'. The name remained but only the distribution of contemporary furniture and lighting remained.

1992, first relocation

In 1992, Batiplus SA moved to Lutry, route de Lavaux 435, and opened a small showroom where the three friends developed a specialised activity for the hotel and gastronomy market. They became the ' Kings chairs '.

Abstract-webdesign Sàrl offered services in website creation and communication. After sending a mailing to attract his first clients, he met Pierre Jutzi and Urs Lüscher.... This was followed by a collaboration until 2007 and the development of the digital activity of Batiplus SA.

Following an external audit, the founding trio decided that it was time to bring in a new partner to secure the company's future. It is at this moment that Nicolas Brunner joins the company as marketing director and partner. He sold his other activities to concentrate 100% on Batiplus SA.

Following the opportunity to buy a plot of land on the edge of the motorway, Batiplus SA moved for a third time and took an active part in the creation of the Design Center, designed by the architect Gabriele Rossi of Archilab. In March 2014, this 3'500 m² showroom opens its doors, based on a shop-in-shop concept unique in Switzerland, and in front of which 60'000 cars pass by every day.

Following a strategic reflection between the partners on the future of Batiplus SA, Pierre Jutzi's desire is to see his future differently, to leave the capital, the direction and the daily management of the company. It was then decided to continue the adventure with three partners. It was also at this time that Nicolas Brunner took over the general management of Batiplus SA as CEO, with Urs Lüscher and Gabriele Rossi, the founding members, remaining at his side to ensure the company's continued existence, while Pierre Jutzi returned to a role closer to his clients.
