Tip Ton RE

When it was launched, Tip Ton defined a completely new type of chair: the chair with a synthetic shell that tilts forward. The name refers to the characteristic two-stage sitting position: from the normal sitting position, Tip Ton can be tilted forward a few degrees. This forward tilted position, previously only offered by office chairs, straightens the pelvis and spine, improving blood circulation to the abdominal and back muscles. Vitra has developed a version of the chair made from recycled plastic in collaboration with Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby: Tip Ton RE. The high-quality recycled material comes from recycled household waste, such as used packaging. Using this raw material in place of primarily petroleum-based plastics produces 54% fewer harmful emissions to the environment, while significantly reducing primary energy consumption.
