"The Wire Chairs of Charles and Ray Eames take the form of the Eames Plastic Chairs. The point welded steel wire shell gives the chairs their transparent appearance, while the DKW's wooden base gives a warm look to the essentially technical character of the design. The metal components of the DKW seat have a black epoxy finish; the four wooden legs of the base are available in various shades of maple.
Upholstery: seat without upholstery, with seat cushion or with seat and backrest upholstery. Seat and backrest upholstery
can be removed and reattached; available in Hopsak fabric or leather. Seat shell: formed and welded steel wire, basic dark epoxy finish. Legs: wooden base with cross-bars, not stackable. Equipped with plastic glides for carpeting; felt glides for hard floors.
