Elegant, almost filigree and yet robust: the moser is the epitome of the Swiss chair.

The 1-250 model, or as it was soon called by architects and the vernacular, the "Moser chair", was immediately in the limelight and became the best-known piece of furniture from horgenglarus. It has appeared in every horgenglarus catalogue since 1932. The architect Werner Max Moser presented his wooden chair in a version with a wide backrest for the first time in 1931 at the Neubühl residential exhibition, which he helped to design. Even after the war, the chair had a great impact. In 1954 it was included in the title of the catalogue of goods published by the Swiss Werkbund in 1954 and in 1958 it received the "Die gute Form" award as model "183 M" and "183 MA". Such honour attracts imitators, but "all other similar and copied chairs are seen as plagiarism", according to the archives.

The Moser chair is very versatile and can be used for a long time. Werner Max Moser, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, limited his first furniture design to what was absolutely necessary, but the Moser chair with its round, slightly swaying legs looks familiar. It is reminiscent of the bentwood chairs of the time, as well as the classic horgenglarus chair. There are equally purist, equally stable and equally comfortable chairs, but in combination the moser is unique because of its stable seat frame. The quality of the mesh is also superior: The robust Jonc mesh is hand-pulled into the chair frame and knotted there, so that it has much more grip than a machine mesh that is pressed into a groove. A continuation of the tried and tested, as modern today as it was then.
