Eames Plastic Armchair | LAR Seat upholstered

Eames Plastic Armchair, the multifunctional chair whose shell can be combined with a variety of different bases, including the low-profile LAR (Lounge Height Armchair Rod Base) version.

The LAR seems to have been one of Charles and Ray's favourite models: it can be seen in many early photographs of the legendary Eames House in Pacific Palisades, both inside and out. They also reveal the lightness of the chair and the ease with which it can be moved. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the Plastic Chair LAR can also be used in smaller interiors.

The seat shell, made from 100% recyclable recycled RE polypropylene, is complemented here by a fully upholstered seat: a fully upholstered interior made from moulded polyurethane foam, covered with fabric attached to the shell with a loop. The white 04 version, which cannot be made from the new RE material, will continue to be produced in conventional polypropylene. Like the seat shells of the Eames Plastic Side Chair RE, the white version is 100% recyclable at the end of its life. Due to the composition of the recycled RE material, the colours of the RE polypropylene seat shell may show very subtle pigment stains.

The steel wire base, which achieves maximum stability with a minimum of material, has acquired a charming nickname on the market in a short space of time, due to its unusual shape: Cat's Cradle - in reference to the children's string game. This classic LAR armchair is a remarkable stand-alone piece of furniture, but can also be combined with many different types of sofa to form an attractive contrast. Particularly in its fully upholstered version, LAR offers long-lasting comfort, making this modestly sized armchair an excellent seating choice for any living space.
