The Plastic Chairs are among the most famous creations by Charles and Ray Eames. One model has always stood out from the vast family of chairs: the Rocking Armchair Rod Base (RAR), despite its compact dimensions, offers pleasant comfort even for tall users. The RAR is an armchair in its own right, whose iconic shape and rocking base mounted on wooden glides add a remarkable accent to any living room.
The seat shell, made from 100% recyclable recycled RE polypropylene, is complemented here by a fully upholstered seat: a fully upholstered interior, made from moulded polyurethane foam, covered with fabric attached to the shell by means of a braid. The white 04 version, which cannot be made from the new RE material, will continue to be produced in conventional polypropylene. Like the seat shells of the Eames Plastic Armchair RE, the white version is 100% recyclable at the end of its life. Due to the composition of the recycled RE material, the colours of the RE polypropylene seat shell may show very subtle pigment stains.
