Kartell is launching the final version of Matrix, the new evolution of the chair.
The Matrix project is the result of a constant dialogue between design and innovation and the encounter between the designer's visionary and experimental ideas and the brand's sophisticated production technology. The seat's frame, made possible by an injection moulding technique on a three-dimensional metallic structure, gives it an extraordinary lightness and refinement. Thanks to a long study and design process, the difficulty of filling the mould of this unique structure has been overcome, making it possible to create, for the first time in plastic and at the industrial level, a product with unique characteristics in terms of design, resistance, durability, flexibility and production technology.
"For Matrix," says Tokujin Yoshioka, "I was inspired by the chairs of the 1950s, which were made of steel wire and more than focusing on the external image, I decided to create a design as close as possible to the structure, but using the innovative Kartell injection moulding technology. The two layers of acrylic resin in the shape of a stick create the three-dimensional structure in a harmonious dialogue between form and material, essential and timeless. »
