A wiry silhouette that naturally evokes a praying mantis in weightlessness, the Mantis floor lamp has been structurally modified and improved by DCW, just as Schottlander had imagined it in his time. Playing on the tension between balance and imbalance, still composed of a long steel rod topped by a black shade pivoting on a ball joint, still resting on its round base. Resting on its round base, the S8 floor lamp has a new base and arm, its original rack and pinion system and counterweight for an ingenious "squaring of the circle". The original rack and counterweight system has been replaced by an ingenious "squaring of the circle" with suggestive graphics and voids. A true sculpture, now adjustable by a dial, which allows great versatility of use, the Mantis BS8 lamp gives back to Bernard what belonged to Schottlander.
