Classic tabouret

The classic 1-380 wooden chair from horgenglarus is a Swiss design icon. In 2018, horgenglarus created a new version with higher legs and a seat height of 80 centimeters. The construction, materiality and design of the classic bar stool nevertheless resemble the classic 1-380 chair. The work of making sketches, models and prototypes took two years, until a compliant big brother was finally here in September 2018: the 11-380 bar stool. This model has all the features of the classic 1-380 that make it unique: a one-piece rounded seat frame, elegantly arched back legs worked to the piece, the front legs arranged diagonally, and the sloping backrest with its usual rounded shape. The challenge was to modify the geometry of the individual components so that they fit the ergonomic requirements of a bar chair and so that the resemblance to the classic 1-380 is visible. A flat steel ring in polished chrome-nickel or black powder-coated steel has been added to connect the legs and reproduce the geometry of the seat frame. It serves only as a footrest, although it is not essential to ensure a strong connection between the seat and the base, despite the higher seat height. Of course, the 11-380 bar stool shares all the quality features that distinguish it from its counterpart, the classic 1-380 chair: the use of the renewable raw material beechwood, the clarity and elegance of its construction, and the precision of handcrafted production. It is available in beech and oak wood in many different colors.
