Find out more about this product
The Savoy table is the modern interpretation of the cast iron legs manufactured by horgenglarus since 1925. It is ideal for furnishing modern buildings made of glass, steel and concrete with a traditional cast iron bistro table. It was designed in 2012 by the Zurich studio Hannes Wettstein, who also used the icon chair to transport the aesthetics of the classic chair into the 21st century.
With its two delicately curved, lacquered anthracite cast iron legs, the contemporary, reduced form of the Savoy table is elegant. It is only at second glance that you notice the technical complexity of its three-dimensional geometry. It is made in the Chur foundry with ferritic cast iron, which is even more robust than grey cast iron. This traditional sand casting process proves to be the method offering the best quality.
Thanks to its archetypal shape, the Savoy table can be combined with almost any chair. As with all cast iron legs, the 30 mm thick savoy table tops are made to measure from solid wood (also square wood). In order to maintain the flatness of the tabletop permanently, an end profile is inserted into a groove, an ancestral principle that dates back to the 17th century. All tables have a height of 73 cm and are equipped with adjustable glides.
