Max Ernst Haefeli, a pioneer of the Swiss modern movement, created the first Swiss architect's chairs for horgenglarus in 1926. In contrast to other designers, Haefeli did not seek to break with tradition; instead he created furniture with familiar forms.
The simplicity, aesthetics and timelessness of the Haefeli wooden chair are legendary. The high quality finish ensures a long life. It has been manufactured almost unchanged since 1926. With its discreet elegance and minimalist design, the haefeli model has remained relevant for decades and is still a top product for private homes and restaurants today.
As early as 1927, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Zurich presented Haefeli's furniture in the exhibition "Form ohne Ornament", including the model 293: the first piece of furniture of the Swiss modern movement. His chairs have been widely known and exhibited. horgenglarus is proud to produce a renowned piece of furniture that belongs to the visual culture of Switzerland. The "House of Switzerland" was furnished with the haefeli chair in 2014. The "model 4" version of the haefeli chair is part of the collection of the Zurich Design Museum.
