Find out more about this product
A timeless symbol of modern design, the Cesca stool embodies the heritage of the Bauhaus and the innovative vision of Marcel Breuer. Introduced by Knoll in 1968, this stool is the result of the acquisition of the Gavina Group, an Italian furniture manufacturer celebrating the legendary creations of the architect.
Inspired by Bauhaus principles and revolutionary innovations, the Cesca stool is distinguished by its rare, almost discreet simplicity. Its linearity is harmoniously balanced by subtle curves, while the wicker cane is enhanced by a wooden frame. The cantilevered structure, appearing to float in mid-air, is a testament to radical design thinking.
Although created shortly after his departure from the Bauhaus in 1928, the Cesca stool remains intrinsically linked to the design principles of this emblematic school. Breuer found his inspiration in the tubular steel of his bicycle, a light and robust material that enabled him to design modern and functional furniture. Originally known as B32, it was renamed Cesca in honour of Breuer's daughter Francesca.
The Cesca stool, with its tubular steel frame and cane seat, became a symbol of the modernist movement, combining structure and ornament. Today it remains an icon of modern design, perfectly at home in contemporary interiors.
Finishes available for the tubular frame:
Chrome-plated steel: For a shine and durability that pay homage to the original design of the 1920s.
Ultra-matt epoxy paint: Available in a range of colours, this modern finish preserves the elegance of the original design.
Manufacturing process :
Machine-braided: This industrial process ensures even, precise braiding, giving a meticulous finish.
Each Cesca stool in the Breuer for Knoll International collection is marked with the KnollStudio logo and Marcel Breuer's signature, guaranteeing authenticity and quality.
