Stefano Giovannoni was born in La Spezia in 1954 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Florence in 1978. He lives and works in Milan. His designs have met with great commercial success, including the "Bombo" series for Magis.
Bombo, first presented in 1996, is an object that has since become part of the collective imagination as the contemporary stool par excellence. The dominant feature of Bombo is the injection-moulded ABS seat, whose height can be adjusted by means of a gas piston. Today, this stool has become an icon, a style pioneer. Ultra-copied and ultra-imitated. But Bombo is still Bombo. Its copies are another story, another chapter that is not a chapter on creativity and design.
