The VL Ring Crown family is derived from a lamp model designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the old Copenhagen Radio House in the 1940s. The wall and suspension versions, with their characteristic organic shape, were widely used in the Copenhagen Radio House. Vilhelm Lauritzen also designed the VL38 and VL45 lamps for this project. The original VL Ring Crown model, however, was never used. A Ring Crown model based on the original plans was launched shortly afterwards. In 1947, the designer Finn Juhl, who worked with Vilhelm Lauritzen, used VL Ring Crown for the interior design of the Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. VL Ring Crown is being relaunched in 2019 with respect to the original materials and design. It is made of untreated polished brass, with a choice of three, five or seven shiny white shades of three-layer opal blown glass. The range is completed by the sconce and suspension models originally installed in the Maison de la Radio. The VL Ring Crown family brings a unique and authentic touch to refined interiors, as well as a warm light to gently illuminate modern living.
