PH Artichoke Glass – A glass pendant light with historic charm.

The glass version of the PH Artichoke pendant light, also called PH ‘Pine Cone’, has its origins in the years 1927-1931, when Poul Henningsen designed the PH Septima: a pendant light made up of seven shades in clear sandblasted glass. Produced by Louis Poulsen until 1940, it was discontinued due to wartime material shortages.

In 1958, when Louis Poulsen was asked to design a light fitting for the Langelinie Pavillonen restaurant, the response was directly inspired by this creation: the PH Septima became the basis for the design of the PH Artichoke, originally made of copper. The glass version takes up this idea, replacing the lampshades with palissades – as Henningsen called them – this time in hand-sandblasted glass.

The PH Artichoke Glass provides a soft and comfortable light, diffused through its clear glass leaves. The sandblasting on the underside eliminates glare, while the upper side subtly reflects the light, creating a unique interplay of transparency and reflections. Whether on or off, the pendant light retains an elegant and frosted visual presence, bringing lightness and refinement to any interior.

The PH Artichoke Glass is available in four sizes (Ø48, Ø60, Ø72 and Ø84 cm), to adapt to any configuration, from intimate projects to monumental architecture. Its integrated, repairable LED version ensures high-performance, energy-efficient lighting, while preserving the unique atmosphere of this iconic luminaire.

Suspended mounting with stainless steel wire and electrical cable, ceiling rose cover included. Cable length: 4 metres. The LED driver is integrated or remote depending on the version, with a maximum distance of 20 metres.

- DALI (5-wire): Designed for professional or home automation installations, the DALI protocol allows for centralised, precise and automated lighting management via a dedicated wired system.

Available light temperatures:
- 2700K LED: For a warm and intimate atmosphere — ideal for residential or relaxation areas.
- LED 3000K: For a more neutral and functional light - suitable for work or passage areas.
