Fun XL | Pendant

The Fun collection is considered by many to be one of Verner Panton's most iconic masterpieces of lighting design. Since 1964, this unique suspension lamp has been a source of joy and a source of many stories.

The XL version is available in a choice of five sizes: Ø56 cm, from 110 to 240 cm high, or Ø100 cm, from 110 to 200 cm high. Its airy, poetic design is a perfect reflection of Panton's intention to create a lamp that gives off a soft, captivating light, while blending harmoniously into colourful interiors.

The inspiration for these lamps came from Panton's desire to work with new and surprising materials. After initially exploring metal, on a trip to Malaysia he discovered delicate shells with a vibrant, pearly sheen. When suspended, these shell discs create a striking luminous effect and produce a subtle, soothing sound when moved by the air.

At the time, the UN was looking for ways to promote employment in developing countries. Panton saw an opportunity to contribute to this effort by using these shells for his Fun lamps.

Today, the Fun collection is available in several versions of pendant and ceiling lamps, as well as floor lamps, table lamps and wall lamps. A lasting tribute to the ingenuity and creative spirit of Verner Panton.
