Originally designed to utilize Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld's surplus wooden shipping crates in 1934, the Crate collection has been re-launched as a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration. Crafted with respect to the original design, the Crate dining chair shares the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process. Featuring a gently sloping back and supportive arms, the chair's simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural style - offering functionality and comfort without taking up space. Crafted from solid pine with a water-based lacquer finish in a variety of color options, the Crate dining chair is suitable for a multitude of indoor and outdoor settings.
