Designed in 1935 by Xavier Pauchard and perfected in 1956 by his son Jean Pauchard, it has stood the test of time without ever losing its appeal. Designed to withstand the most demanding use, the A Chair is the result of a major innovation: the mastery of galvanised steel. Its design, made from a single sheet of folded metal, combines formal simplicity with structural efficiency. For nearly a century, each A Chair has been handmade in the TOLIX workshops in France. Stamping, bending, brazing and polishing are skills passed down from generation to generation by skilled craftsmen. About the finishes:

- Powder-coated steel: Available in a range of natural colours with a glossy finish, powder-coated steel offers a luminous and uniform depth. Applied by powder coating, the paint revives the historic finish of TOLIX furniture and guarantees excellent durability for indoor use.

- Raw varnished steel: Raw varnished steel reveals the material in its most sincere form. Marks, nuances and irregularities bear witness to the manual work and the life of the metal. The varnish protects without altering, preserving the raw appearance while extending durability for indoor use.

- Varnished galvanised steel: Each piece is immersed in a zinc bath at 450°C, ensuring long-lasting corrosion protection. This process brings out a unique galvanisation bloom, making each chair unique. A layer of glossy varnish completes the look, allowing for indoor and/or outdoor use.
