Find out more about this product
The creativity of an artist combined with the technology of a large company has given rise to a design icon: Bookworm, the elastic bookcase designed by Ron Arad for Kartell. Made of flexible PVC, it combines freedom of form and strength, allowing you to create straight, sinuous or wavy lines according to your imagination.
Available in several lengths and colours, with an opaque or opaline finish, Bookworm stands out for its integrated bookends and its ability to support a heavy load. For greater resistance, it is recommended to fix it in a curved shape, which puts the material under tension and ensures stability. Each level can support up to 10 kg, depending on the mounting shape and the curvature applied.
Practical tip:
To avoid too many fixings, some people choose to install Bookworm on a wooden panel approximately 20 mm thick, which is itself securely anchored to the wall — 2 to 4 fixing points are sufficient (panel can be ordered from a carpenter or DIY store).
Other features:
- Model 8003 / 8004 → 7 bookends H. 19 cm – length 320 cm – weight 6.2 kg
- Model 8005 / 8006 → 11 bookends H. 19 cm – length 520 cm – weight 9.8 kg
- Model 8008 / 8010 → 17 bookends H. 19 cm – length 820 cm – weight 15.2 kg
Each level can support up to 10 kg, depending on the assembly method and the curvature applied.
