Ball Clock | Wall clock

In 1947, the American designer George Nelson was commissioned to create a collection of innovative clocks. Observing that people discerned the time primarily by the position of the hands, Nelson concluded that numerals were superfluous. With the growing popularity of wristwatches, he realised that wall clocks served more as interior decoration.

These thoughts influenced the design of his first collection of 14 wall and table clocks, launched in 1949. Each model is distinguished by the absence of numerals, while offering a wide variety of shapes, colours, materials and designs. In 1999, Vitra began reissuing Nelson Clocks, periodically adding new models to the collection.

The Nelson clocks, available in a variety of shapes and materials, are equipped with high-precision quartz mechanisms, offering a modern and decorative alternative to traditional clocks. They cater for a wide range of tastes and preferences.
