Reissued in 2024, the Chaise Tressée is part of the history of metal furniture developed by TOLIX from the 1930s onwards. Its origins date back to 1935, when the City of Paris launched a major call for tenders in preparation for the 1937 World's Fair, resulting in the creation of the T37 chair, designed for use in Parisian public gardens.
In 1948, Xavier Pauchard explored a new expression of metal by developing a unique woven pattern. Through a play of intertwined geometric lines, he introduced a feeling of lightness and finesse, contrasting with the robustness and structural simplicity of steel. This pattern was then incorporated into the seat of the historic model, giving rise to a version with a more airy and delicate aesthetic.
The Chaise Tressée embodies this subtle balance between formal innovation and functional requirements. Its design, both graphic and structured, transcends time with surprising modernity. Reinterpreted today in stainless steel, it is designed to adapt to both contemporary interiors and outdoor environments.
Both decorative and durable, the Woven Chair reflects TOLIX's sense of experimentation and industrial expertise, and naturally finds its place in spaces where design dialogues with history.
About the finishes:
- Powder-coated stainless steel: Available in a range of natural colours with a glossy finish, powder-coated stainless steel offers a luminous and uniform depth. Applied by powder coating, the paint covers and protects the stainless steel for the long term, while reviving the historic finish of TOLIX furniture and ensuring excellent durability for both indoor and outdoor use.
Weight: 4.5 kg.
