Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904 for the Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow and reissued by Cassina from 1973–1974, Willow 1 is one of the most iconic creations of the Scottish architect and designer. Its geometric design combines vertical lines and graphic composition in a manner characteristic of the Arts & Crafts movement.

The solid ash backrest highlights the openwork pattern that has contributed to the model’s renown. The curved seat incorporates a concealed drawer beneath the seat, while the exclusive fabric cushion completes the composition. The construction combines solid ash with multi-layer beech plywood and black-stained ash veneer to preserve the proportions and details of the original design.
