Stapel, a work draft from 1949, anticipated the world of forms of the 50s with its new, free attitude to life. With its characteristic kidney shape, Sta Stapel stands in contrast to the home style that was widespread in Switzerland at the time. The name of the sturdy chair is the program, because the solid wooden chair is easy to stack. Its manufacture is particularly complex, as the hind legs are turned in various diameters before bending. Both front and rear legs are also used in Max Bill's cross frame chair, which came onto the market two years later. The chair has recently been redesigned: the seat frame has been enlarged, the curved shape reinforced.
