The Classic 11-380 bar stool, designed in 2018 by horgenglarus, is a natural extension of the famous Classic 1-380 Swiss chair. Inspired by the Swiss design icon created in 1918, this stool retains the essence of its predecessor while adapting to the demands of higher seating, with a height of 80 cm.

Although its construction, material and design are directly inspired by the 1-380 chair, the development of the Classic bar stool took two years of work on sketches, models and prototypes. In September 2018, the final version, faithful to the original model, saw the light of day.

The 11-380 bar stool incorporates the distinctive elements that made the Classic 1-380 chair famous: a rounded monoblock seat frame, elegantly arched and individually shaped back legs, diagonally arranged front legs, and a sloping backrest with a characteristic rounded shape. The main challenge was to adjust the geometry of these components to meet the ergonomic requirements of a stool while maintaining a marked resemblance to the design of the chair.

A flat steel ring, in polished chrome-nickel or powder-coated black steel, links the legs and reproduces the shape of the seat frame, acting as a footrest. Although this element is not necessary for the sturdiness of the whole, it provides additional functionality while respecting the aesthetics of the model.

Like its counterpart, the 11-380 bar stool is distinguished by its exceptional quality. Made from beech or oak wood from renewable sources, it combines clarity and elegance in its construction with impeccable craftsmanship. Available in a wide range of colours, it embodies both the history of Swiss design and modernity.
