The Swiss wooden chair Classic 1-380 is a legend.

In the midst of the historicist furniture of the time, this anonymous creation from 1918 with its sober form seems to have come from another world. "Clear and unadorned in its form, adapted to the material in its manufacture and modest, robust, durable and simple - a landmark of Swiss design", is how Hubertus Adam, journalist, architecture critic and former director of the Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel, described this chair. The Classic model thus anticipates the guiding concept of typical Swiss furniture.

The 10 S chair with its discreet design, originally conceived as a bar/inn chair, is suitable for many different settings. Every Swiss person has probably sat on it. It has been used for decades in schools, restaurants and homes. Like the Swiss pocket knife, this flagship product is an integral part of Swiss design history and cultural heritage. The fact that the Classic model is not a reissue and has been manufactured continuously and unchanged since 1918 is testimony to its outstanding quality. Only the dimensions were carefully adjusted in 1999, because after all we are taller today than we were 100 years ago.

In addition, the "1-380" chair was given the name Classic. As an advertisement in 1917 stated, the chair with the seat frame, backrest and backrest made of solid wood and steam-curved has survived for decades thanks to its "high quality workmanship and craftsmanship". Its robust construction makes any braces unnecessary and its ergonomics make it very user-friendly.
